What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is one of the most important months in the Islamic Calendar. It is the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. As part of the fast, they do not eat or drink. Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drinks, but more importantly to abstain from behaviour which is deemed unacceptable in Islam. The key focuses for this month include an emphasis on physical, mental and spiritual health, mindfulness, building community, and giving charity.
